Videator provides media libraries for organizing videos (flix), images (pix), audio (aud), and effects (my fX).
Video files can be overlaid on live or recorded video, and inserted into recorded video. Videator automatically loads the contents of the Movies folder in your home folder, so any movies you’ve placed in that folder will show up in your video library.
Images can also be overlaid and inserted into video. They are also used with various effects. For example, all of the Composite Operation effects use an additional image that is combined in various ways with the original video. So you’ll probably want to build a collection of masking and background images that achieve various effects.
Audio tracks can be added to all or part of recorded video or a live video loop. You can add sound effects, music, speech: whatever will liven up your video. Videator tries to load /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/iLife Sound Effects and /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Apple Loops for Garageband, so if you have iLife installed, you’ll have access to your sound effects in Videator.
Single effects and effects chains can be saved and reused. For example, we showed you how to add an image and have it fade in and out. You can save that effect, with its fade in and out settings, and reuse it with other images. |
